Company Type: Research & Development
Company Category:
Robotics Instruments
Company Profile
BSD Robotics established in 1991, BSD is today regarded as the world leader
in relation to instruments (and the associated software) used in the neonatal
screening and DNA-related fields. Through the years, BSD has built a solid
global reputation based on their three core strengths - Reliable Instruments,
Latest Technologies and Customer Focus. The success of BSD's products is closely
related to their proprietary technologies - designed and developed within BSD.
The BSD R&D team is constantly creating cost-effective solutions and products
for unmet market needs. More than 40% of the Company's total resources are
directed towards the creation of market-oriented new products and technologies.
All BSD instruments are computer controlled systems. Complementing the BSD
instruments is the highly flexible BSD software. The BSD software is 100%
developed in-house, which allows dedicated customization to individual
laboratory's needs and requirements. The BSD software allows flexible
programming of punching protocols/procedures/processes on a wide variety of
plate maps. The software generates an comma-delimited ASCII output file after
every run and each file includes several fields such as Tests Name, Plate No.,
Plate Barcode, Grid Reference, Sample Barcode , Type of Disk, Fill Order, Others
and a Comment. This file can be exported into the LIMES or any downstream
instruments for sample tracking. The BSD software is regularly improved/updated
with the latest features and functions.
About Company
BSD Robotics, an Australian-based company, is the world leader in relation to
the design, manufacture and supply of high technology laboratory instruments
(and the associated software) used in the preparation, prior to processing, of
Bio-Samples dried on media. BSD is committed to a high level of ongoing research
and development so as to develop solutions to meet customers' needs for various
levels of automation. To complement theirr proprietary technologies, BSD has
also secured world-wide rights to other appropriate technologies, including the
use of lasers to cut media containing bio-samples, and the use of coring as a
means of cutting media.
The fully automated and semi automated systems, such as BSD Laser Cutter &
BSD600V, now being released by BSD Robotics have been designed in Brisbane, and
focuses on all new forms of bio-sampling devices, including plastic framed
sample cards such as Bionics, and buckle cell collection devices such as
Vibrissa's, and Swab Grips. In addition, BSD Robotics is constantly working to
refine the technologies incorporated in our current product range. They
constantly draw on the latest engineering technologies to apply to theiar
instruments. This policy allows the company to maintain a leading edge in the
market. BSD holds IP on all key technologies for pre-processing of dried
samples, including the use of lasers.
