Product Name: ABB IRB 1400 M94A
Product Description
The ABB IRB 1400 was the successor to the IRB 1500 and is
primarily noted for the length of time it has been in production - which started
in 1994 and is still ongoing - virtually unmodified. With a 5kg payload and a
1.4m reach the 1400 is perfect for machine tending, pick and place work, MIG and
TIG welding, grinding, cutting, fettling and polishing applications.
Because of the length of time it has been in production the 1400 has been issued
with a few different control systems. The original 1400 came with a S4 (series
4) controller running M94 software. This was superseded very quickly by the M94A
software and most M94\'s have been upgraded to this level. Then in 1997 the IRB
1400 was given the S4C (Series 4 compact) controller. This control had several
major changes to its predecessor including the drive system, and overall cabinet
layout and a change of software to M97. This was then superseded by M97A then
M98 software. The M98 also used a new main computer board running with a faster
clock rate of 25Mhz. The M99 followed but was soon replaced by the S4C+ M2000
cabinet. The M2000 was a much more significant revision, the major modification
being a change to the computer system. The M2000 uses a PC based system but
still has the same RAPID programming language as the S4 and S4C controllers with
benefits of better connectivity and some extra software modules.
In 2006 the 1400 arm manufacture was move to China and the model was
rechristened the IRB 1410. The motors are manufactured by Yasakawa China (Yasakawa
being Motoman\'s parent company)
